it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Everywhere you go......

YIKES!!!

I'm not going to sit down and count how many days until Christmas but, gosh, getting a little stressed about it. September last year I was almost done with my shopping! (I had money then) - this year?? Nada.

Every store at the mall is decorated already.

Macy's had their trees up a month ago! Right now, before the entire world, I am committing to not go crazy trying to get gifts for everyone, finding the "perfect" gifts, setting the "perfect" table, decorating the "perfect" tree, creating the "perfect" family portrait Christmas card, etc., etc., etc.

Let's remember what it is all about, people! Hard to do that when your kids are continually saying "i want that one" over and over and over again. Is it me or are there more and more commercials playing on Nickelodeon right now? Every two seconds there is an ad for some sort of doll or race car! I can't take it anymore and it's only November 2nd. Augh!

I'm not the grinch. I will not be the grinch. I LOVE this time of year. It's my favorite. BUT - for the sake of sanity, I need to set some boundaries, set some limits. In fact, I'm so very much NOT the grinch, I'm going to listen to some Christmas music - and just so you know, I was eyeballing the eggnog at the grocery store tonight. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

YUM - Eggnog !
Maybe tell your little ones that you or santa has a certain 'budget' and maybe they can make a game out of finding the most toys they can get for that magic budget? Hand em the sales papers on sunday and let them go... the littlest one may not be able to add it all up, but your son maybe able to help.
I'm already thinking about putting up a tree or two... must wait for sanity sake!

I tried the money excuse before, but the boys responded with, "Santa doesn't need money. He makes his toys." Too smart for me.

I know what you mean! Thanksgiving might as well not exist!

My parents used to get me and my brother one big thing we wanted, then a couple of small things, sometimes even handmade. Looking back, the handmade ones were my favorite, especially after finding out about Santa.

I LOVE Christmas!!! (but it does stink to be broke this time of year. *SIGH*)
...and now I'm not so embarrassed to admit I was running my finger over the titles of all my Christmas movies...anxiously wondering how soon is "too soon" to watch them!

Christmas sneaks right up on you, doesn't it? I'm just not ready for Christmas until after Thanksgiving.

I admit, I count the days until I can put up decorations (I wait until the day after Thanksgiving, but I'd do it sooner if my husband wouldn't look at me cross eyed about it) and absolutely LOVE shopping on Black Friday.

From day one my kids have had limits. They can only ask for three things from Santa and my husband and I just get them one (fairly big) thing from us. It works and my kids have no idea that they get less than some of their friends.

I'm finding myself wanting to jump ahead into the Christmas spirit this year--right past Thanksgiving. I usually refuse to go all Christmas crazy until then.

There is just something different this year...

And the commercials? Good lord, it's driving me nuts.

"I WANT THAT!!!" is the phrase of the day around here. Grrrr.

I totally agree, it is insane how early things are in the stores these days. I don't enjoy Christmas as much because of it, and you are dead on about the Nick commercials. My daughter's new phrase is "I want that!" and it is getting annoying!
